Proverbs 11: The Power of Guidance & Discernment
“Where no counsel is, the people fall: but in the multitude of counsellors there is safety.” (Proverbs 11:14, KJV)
One of the greatest gifts we can give ourselves is the wisdom to seek guidance. Proverbs 11 reminds us that wise counsel is essential for success. We were never meant to navigate life alone. God places the right people in our path to sharpen, strengthen, and guide us. Discernment is key. Not all advice is wise, and not all voices should be followed. Psalm 1:1 warns us not to walk in the counsel of the ungodly, but instead, to root ourselves in God’s truth. Seeking wise counsel means aligning with those who operate in integrity, clarity, and divine wisdom. Have you been relying solely on yourself when God is sending help? Are you resisting guidance because it challenges your comfort zone? Your next level requires wisdom, and sometimes, that wisdom comes through the people God sends.

📝 Let’s take a moment to reflect with these journal prompts:
1. Where in my life do I need wise counsel, and have I been resisting it?
2. Am I surrounding myself with wisdom, or am I leaning on my own understanding?
3. What steps can I take to align with the guidance God is providing?
🙏🏾 Let us pray
Heavenly Father,
Thank You for placing wise counsel in my life. Proverbs 11:14 reminds me that I do not have to figure everything out alone. Help me to recognize the voices You have sent to guide me and to walk in humility when receiving wisdom.
Lord, remove any pride or fear that causes me to reject the guidance I need. Let my steps be ordered by Your wisdom, and let my discernment be sharp to distinguish truth from deception.
I repent for any time I have ignored divine counsel or leaned solely on my own understanding. I surrender my plans to You and open my heart to receive the help You have sent. I declare that I walk in clarity, wisdom, and alignment with Your purpose.
I seal this prayer in divine guidance and spiritual discernment.
In Jesus’ name, Amen.
Affirmation: I welcome divine wisdom, and I trust the counsel God has placed in my life.
